Trying to connect your home device on Amped Wireless SR10000 Router?

This article provides you step-by-step instructions on how to set up an amped REC15A Range Extender.

It is the most compact and powerful universal range extender available in the market. By setting up the range extender, you can cover more areas throughout your lawn, backyard, or other floors of your home.

Follow the below instructions to set up Amped REC15A Range Extender

Place the range extender You need to find your router wireless dead zone and place the REC15A extender between the router and router wireless dead zone.

NOTE:- Make sure your extender receives strong signals from the router. The recommended signal strength is over 70%.

Now you need to plug in the power adaptor of extender into the nearby power outlet.

Connect your any wireless device such as a computer or smartphone on REC15A Range Extender. Go to the wireless settings of your devices and search for the REC15A Range Extender network name. The default wireless network name is Amped_ REC15A _2.4 or Amped_ REC15A _5.0. Click on the network and tap the connect button.
Open a new browser After connecting your device on range extender, open a new browser on your computer and type http://setup.ampedwireless.com into the web address bar and press enter. We highly recommend it to use Internet Explorer 8.0, Google Chrome, Safari. Do not use Mozilla Firefox.

If you cannot access the setup page through the above URL, try to open it with an IP address of the device or contact the support team.

NOTE You don’t need an active internet connection to access this URL.

REC15A Range Extender dashboard

METHOD 01- WIRELESSLY

A dashboard to dashboard prompt opens on your screen computer screen that will show you the status and other information of your range extender.
Click on the Scan button to find your main wireless router network. Select your network to extend the range. If you have a Dual-band router, select both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network names. If the extender is not showing your home network name, then move your range extender closer to the router or try other places.

NOTE- Select the network which is having a signal strength of 70% or above. Signal strength below 70% can cause issues like the WiFi signal dropping out or poor connection. 

After selecting the network, click on next
Click on the Scan button to find your main wireless router network. Select your network to extend the range. If you have a Dual-band router, select both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network names. If the extender is not showing your home network name, then move your range extender closer to the router or try other places.
Here on this page, you need to enter the network security key (WiFi password) and if you choose dual-band to extend, then you have to enter the security key (WiFi password) for both bands.

NOTE If you didn’t set any security on your home wireless network, leave the security key field blank and click on Next to continue the process.

Extended Network settings On this page, you can see the Network ID (SSID) of your REC15A range extender such as Amped_ REC15A _2.4 or Amped_ REC15A _5.0.
You can manually change the wireless Network ID (SSID) if you want to do it. Enter the network security for both 2.4 and 5.0 dual-band.

NOTE- The network security key should be more than 8 characters. If you don’t want to set the security on your range extender network, leave the password field blank.

We suggest you do not refresh the page during the setup process.

 

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

After configuring the extender network settings, click on next. You will see a prompt showing countdown time. It takes a few seconds to save extender settings and connect to the home wireless network.
During this connecting process, the REC15A range extender will reboot and disconnect. You need to reconnect your computer to the REC15A range extender on any 2.4 or 5.0 extended network.
After connecting your device on the extended network, click the checkbox to confirm.

Click on the Next button to complete the setup process. 

Now the REC15A range extender is successfully configured.

Now you can connect any wireless device on Range Extender and you can also connect one wired connection through one wired port on Range Extender.

NOTE- If there is any issue to complete the setup process, the setup wizard will provide you all error information. You can try the same steps again to set up your REC15A range extender. You can also contact the support team to help you with it.

To connect your wireless devices on the REC15A range extender using the WPS Push-button.

It is a very easy and one-touch setup process to connect your wireless devices to the REC15A range extender.

NOTE- Make sure your device has an in-built WPS feature.

On the top panel of Range Extender, you will see the WPS button.
Press and hold this button for 3 seconds and the LED will start blinking.
Within a few seconds, push the WPS button on your device and wait for a few seconds to connect it to the Range extender network.
You can connect any WPS enabled device on REC15A range extender such as android smartphones, printer.

NOTE- Please note that the apple product does not support the WPS push button.

I am connected to a Home Network however I do not have internet access with SR10000?

Amped Range extender SR10000 is always set up with your router’s WiFi. Make sure it should be in the range of your home network. You can see the signal strength of your home network by login to your extender “setup.ampedwireless.com”.

FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR NO INTERNET ACCESS:

Home Wireless security :
Placement of Wireless extender.
The DHCP server for the home network.
Internet Access on your Home Network.
DNS issue
An IP conflict

Home Wireless Security: Make sure whenever you connect the extender with your home network use the correct password. If you change the wireless password or wireless name by login to your router page. When your Home Network is secured. You may enter incorrect wireless security for your Home Network. Assure that you have the correct network security key to connect to the Home Network.
In that case, you have to connect your SR10000 again with New WiFi name and password. Otherwise, it won’t get internet access through your Amped extender

Placement of wireless extender: The placement of extender is essential whenever you are using the SR10000 range extender. It is necessary to put the extender at a perfect location where you get 70% signal strength from your home WiFi network. If you get the signal strength less than 70%, then change the location of your extender (put it a bit closer to the router). As a result, If your range extender is too far from the main router. Run through the Setup Wizard again. Whenever you click on the SCAN option, your SR10000 should show all the available networks within a signal strength of 70% or greater. If it does not, change the location of your Amped extender or take closer to your Home Network and try again.

The DHCP server for the home network: Verify that your Home Network router’s DHCP server is enabled. The range extender will get an IP from your Home Network router by “setup.ampedwireless.com”. If it is disabled, your extender won’t get an IP address to access the internet. The DHCP server helps you to get an IP address automatically from your home network.

DHCP:  The SR10000 includes a complex AUTO DHCP feature to help manage the IP addresses within your Extended network and with your Home Network. When your extender connects to a Home Network, the Repeater will obtain an IP address from your Home Network’s router and act as a DHCP Client. However, when there is no connection available or when it is not connected to the home network. In that case, the Amped extender will act as a DHCP Server. You may also manually control the IP settings of your range extender by choosing Client, Server, or Disabled from the DHCP drop-down menu. These steps can be used by advanced users.

Internet Access on your home network: Please check that you have internet access on your home network by connecting directly to the Home Network first. If you can go online, then this is not a problem. If you cannot go online, then the Home Network’s Internet connection must first be resolved.

By rebooting the Home Network router.
You can check the cable connection for your router.
Check out the status of the modem. (If it is available)In last,
contact your internet service provider.

DNS Issue: Sometimes you might get an issue with DNS settings on your Amped extender. The extender is always obtaining an IP address automatically and the same things applicable to your DNS server for the extender. After login in to your extender settings, you need to be aware of DNS settings that should be the same as you are using in your home network router. You can try to reboot the SR10000 range extender and then access a website. If you are getting internet access on your device that means it is working. Else, if that fails, then reboot the Main Router to see if that fixes it.

An IP Conflict: An IP conflict only happens whenever you change the IP settings of your extender or home network. As mentioned above, for your Home Network and your Extended Network both need to be on DHCP Server by

setup.ampedwireless.com”. If your home network is on the DHCP server then you need to change the IP address for your extender. In other words, Try to adjust the IP address of your Extended Network using IP values that should be different from your Home Network.

ALTERNATE METHOD:

Home Network SSID: For your network enter the Identification name of the Home Network you wish to connect to.

An IP Conflict: An IP conflict only happens whenever you change the IP settings of your extender or home network. As mentioned above, for your Home Network and your Extended Network both need to be on DHCP Server by

Channel Number: You need to enter the channel number for your Home Network as well as for your extender. If the channel number does not match, a connection will not be established.

Channel Width : Your WiFi range extender operates with two separate channel widths, 20Hz, and 40Hz.

20Hz allows operation on channels 1-11, while 40Hz is 5-11. (40Hz allows for faster speeds). You need to select the channel width as per recommendation in the manual for your extended network on “setup.ampedwireless.com”. The above-mentioned extender settings need to be matched with your Home Network for a successful connection.

If Still, you are facing the same issue with your SR10000 amped extender. You can try the following alternate steps:

Reboot the Extender: You can unplug the extender and plug it again after 5 seconds.

Reset the Extender: You can reset the extender by using a paper clip or safety pin. You can set up your extender by using the WPS button or web-based utility management. 

NOTE: At the time of reset make sure it should be powered on.
